She is on the faculty of the Council of Education in Management and writes a monthly column for LexisNexis.

Dr. Johnston has extensive media experience; she served as a mental health reporter for Channel 8 (the ABC affiliate) in Dallas, Texas. For three years, she served as host and producer of "State of Mind," a mental health show sponsored by the University of California San Diego, which, in 1998, was honored by the San Diego Psychological Association's Media Award. She has been interviewed by numerous legal and business publications, including TIME, Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the San Francisco Chronicle. Dr. Johnston has appeared in over 40 television shows, 100 radio shows and 200 print articles in the United States, New Zealand, and Canada.
